Bawdy little monkey

So, Elsie's new favorite thing to do (okay, it's been a month or two since she started doing it; not exactly new) is to climb. Onto the kitchen counters, using chairs. All over the kitchen. Our kitchen is quite small, and she makes it smaller by bringing in a new chair every time she wants to climb. So usually there are three chairs in there, and it's like an obstacle course.

Anyway, we keep a big red bowl full of leftover candy (from Easter, Valentines Day, etc.) on top of our fridge. Elsie is always asking for something from the red bowl. So the other day, Andrea came into the kitchen and Elsie had climbed up and gotten the bowl down from off the fridge. The climbing and getting into things has gotten to the point now where we hear Elsie in the kitchen and say "What is Elsie doing? Oh, it's okay, she's only taking all the utensils out of that drawer and putting them on the floor." because that's no big deal.

But the thing she likes to get to most of all is the spice cupboard. She has always loved playing with spices. Ever since she was little, she loves to stack them or line them up or do whatever with them. So, a couple of weeks ago, while Andrea's mom was here, they hadn't heard her playing or anything for a while, so they went into the kitchen to see what she was up to. This is what they found:

"Well, that's not too bad," you say. "So she took all the spices out of the cupboard. No problem." But lets take a closer look at what's on the stove:

Yeah, that's the spaghetti we were going to eat for dinner. And that's a huge pile of garlic powder on top of it!

And it wasn't just on the noodles...

She was proud of herself.

  1. Why does she look like a little girl? Where did baby Elsie go? Goodness, she has grown up.
